I'm proud of how my house is set up and ready to accommodate a new family member. Granted, my nursery won't be gracing the pages of any foo-foo magazines, but it's just right for our family.
As you can see, I have a glider and handy side table ready for breastfeeding. I scored the gorgeous cherry crib from my stepmom. The Ikea dresser is the perfect height for when baby boy is old enough to start getting dressed independently.
I'm also excited about his little toy area. Behold, his toy box and his treasure chest-like book box.
I'm also proud of my make-shift changing table/dresser. Around 32 weeks, I was stressing out about how to get rid of this glass table, buy a changing table, and get my abounding collection of baby stuff organized. Then one Sunday afternoon I decided it wasn't worth it, and I created a solution out of the materials I had on hand.
The glass table is now our changing station, which happens to have plenty of room for plastic drawers underneath and extra storage space behind the drawers for things like the playpen, which I don't need to access on a daily basis.
M and I live in a one-bathroom house built in 1923. There's barely enough room for our tolietries, let alone baby bath supplies. Behold, my genius solutions.
And now for the baby product I'm most excited about, the Amby Hammock I scored on eBay (recall repair kit included) for less than half the cost of a new one. Unlike a flat, stationary bassinett, the hammock moves with the baby and suposedly helps soothe him back to sleep when he moves.
Oh yes, and did I mention we have a name picked out? Some of my readers already know (hi, Mom!). I'll keep the rest of you in suspense until I have a picture of the boy to go with the name.
Um, I totally love you. I was stressing out because we aren't going to have a picture perfect nursery, and your set-up gives me confidence that we'll be able to provide well for our baby boy.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I'm so happy for you and so glad you get to meet him soon. So cool that I've gotten to see everything from the very beginning!
We, too, are short on space in our apartment, but you've really made it work! Isn't it so exciting to be in the home stretch??!? I cannot wait to meet our little person. Good luck to you. I'm looking forward to reading about your birth experience (when you get time to post it...)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! So excited for you. :) I love the pictures--you did a great job working with the space you have and making the perfect nest. Wishing you a fast and easy last few weeks!
